Zikai’s blog post feedback

Hey Zikai,

Thanks for sharing your blog post. Your answers to each question are relevant to the topic and explained and illustrated well. Secondly, I like your edited screencast video at the end of the post, which effectively combines modality and multimedia principle. The video not only uses the principle of multimedia learning but also expresses it with a conversational style, well done! In addition, the added YouTube video serves as an aid to the text as well as an extension to the article, allowing readers to stimulate and deepen their understanding and memory with multimedia objects after reading relevant concepts.Ā

Just one suggestion, perhaps it would be easier for readers to display the questions and answers in different fonts and sizes?

All in all, this is a very useful and informative blog post. Thanks again for sharing!

Choleā€™s blog post feedback

Hey Chole,Ā

Really glad to read your blog. I could feel your thinking process and attitude towards the course when I reading this blog. I like the way you break down the answers to each question so that each answer could clearly be understood by the reader. Besides, each section of this blog is clear, concise, and organized. At the same time, I also like the picture used below the first question, which fits well with your answer. This is also a great example of the multimedia as well as the split-attention principle about how the audience could better achieve the purpose of learning through the combination of words and pictures.Ā

I wonder maybe using different fonts and colors to emphasize the main points of the post would make it easier for readers to remember the main concepts of this blog?

Overall, I think this is a well-organized and coherent blog post. Thanks for sharing!

Getting to know SECTIONS MODEL

Letsā€™s try to evaluate my H5P veideo through Sections Model

The Sections model is used to evaluate the effectiveness of a certain technology applied in the classroom. It consists of eight factors, namely students, easy to use, costs, teaching functions, interaction, organizational issues, networking as well as security and privacy. I choose this framework for evaluation this time. For learners who use H5P video technology for the first time, the sections framework are more detailed, more in line with my current learning situation, and take into account the wider educational environment

First of all, as a student, this model applies to my current study situation. Personally, H5P video is a free and relatively simple application. The use of this technology can better assist the learning of multimedia class, make the videos more diverse, not only exercise the students’ hands-on ability, but also help to improve the learning effect of multimedia online courses. H5P technology make online videos more interactive, creating a stronger bond between video makers and viewers and helping researchers gather feedback. As for the interactive video I made, I think it basically meets the above requirements. By using the H5P technique, I inserted two multiple choice questions and a pop-up text into the original video, which allowed me to better understand the effectiveness of the video for the audience.

H5P—-multimedia principles

1. Signalling principle: One of the major functions of H5P is to add multiple choice questions and pop-up text to learners to enhance the key information points in the video, so as to deepen the impression and improve the efficiency of the class.
2. Feedback principle: the audience will get feedback immediately after they finish the questions.Ā They can learn about their classroom listening, thereby improve classroom interaction and learning effect.

Starting to practice Multimedia Lesson Plan & Interactive videos with M5P

Knowing the importance of a lesson plan

The process of multimedia project completion is relatively complex and requires detailed operational steps, while reasonable and clear planning is conducive to the realization of the final goal. The lesson plan, as a learning technique, could help learners prepare for a multimedia project in a more organized way and have a clearer understanding of the overall content. Lesson plans can transform the thinking chain in the mind into a visual process, which is not prone to deviation and loopholes in the subsequent practice. In addition, it also helps to create a pre-evaluation of the multimedia content. By comparing the complete lesson plan with the goals, appropriate adjustments can be made to correct the deficiencies. Moreover, the lesson plan could be a good method to build learners confidence in the multimedia learning content, relieve psychological pressure, and could also be helpful to complete the follow-up content according to the plan step by step.

Multimedia Learning principles ā¬…ļø H5p

H5P interactive video would be concerned with a lot of multimedia learning principles, such as the feedback principle and the signalling principle.

  • The feedback principle indicates that multimedia lessons are facilitated when learners receive feedback on their performance. H5P Interactive Video enables the audience to receive timely feedback on their performance in class, which can help them to focus on multimedia learning, improve their confidence or find loopholes to remedy in time.
  • The signalling principle instructs that adding clues to emphasize the importance of a key point facilitates multimedia learning. In this way, learners can deepen their impression of the knowledge they have learned, enhance their comprehension, and internalize the key information into what they have learned.

As a whole, H5P is not difficult to use in video and is compatible with many video sites and electronic devices. Meanwhile, H5P not only adds a variety of interactive elements to the video, but also provides effective feedback for both the sender and the learner, making it an effective form of multimedia learning.

Getting to know with multimedia learning (MML) principles & screencast video editing

Multimedia learning principles that apply to a PowerPoint presentation in a classroom

Two of the most important purposes for class demonstration are to assist the instructor in class and make students understand the contents of the class well. Classrooms with only one-sided text output are relatively boring. Therefore, in order to make the course more interesting and rich in content, the combination of words and pictures is a very effective way. Using Multimedia Principle can let students understand through words and match pictures to feel more intuitively, so as to achieve the purpose of deepening the impression. In addition, the Personalization Principle can also be applied well in classroom presentations. It is more effective to transform academic concepts and formal styles into more acceptable expressions on a daily basis.

A personal example that break the principles of multimedia learning

Multiple visual and auditory stimuli could help me remember the key points of the course effectively. Therefore, animation principle does not work for me. When I learned about income discrepancy in North America in the last semester, I could not have a very clear understanding of the broad concept only through the bar chart in the presentation and the textbook. However, in Optional Video, this social phenomenon was demonstrated in the dynamic form of animation, which left me a deep memory. Overall, multimedia learning principles also need to be considered in a critical and objective way according to specific conditions.

Getting Started with Interactive & Multimedia Learning

A brief introduction of Flow Theory

Flow Theory refers to a state in which an individual is immersed in something which requires a sense of continuous improvement, matching skills, Ā a high degree of focus on the present, Ā also so predictable goals and rewards (Spencer, 2017). Ā For learners, students can stimulate strong learning abilities and efficiency in the sins of feeling.

The relationship between Flow Theory and online multimedia course learning

At present, continuous online learning is in fact the process of finding the best and most effective online learning mode. For the current courses, Ā the interactive application of images and audio in multimedia is helpful to enhance studentsā€™ Ā interest and enthusiasm in learning. Ā The gradual realization of flow state in the course could also help improve studentsā€™ Ā in-class participation and better integrate into the course activities. Meanwhile, Ā multimedia course learning involves a variety of skills training, and understanding flow theory will be useful to provide opportunities and space for students to challenge these skills, Ā so as to enhance the interest in multimedia and promote photo learning. Ā Furthermore, important factors that affect flow theory are also what we need in the current learning. Understanding this concept could help students immerse themselves and reduce distractions in the learning process.

Make the learning process an end in itself and enjoy the journey.

weekly blogging assignment

My interactive learning experience

The group project in a course last semester had a positive effect on me. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the group project had to be accomplished online. The course specified that the assignment must be uploaded as a collaborative video, Ā also required students to communicate and discuss through the app called Teams. I felt troubled and uneasy in the beginning because it involved not only online interactive but also some multimedia application skills. However, things did not turn out the way I had originally thought. Through Teams, team members cooperated together in an unexpectedly harmonious way. Relevant information found was shared on the platform, and everyone was tried to mutually communicated with each other to adjust and improve the project. Furthermore, through their patient help, I also completed the video and audio recording successfully. Last but not least,Ā  in order to make the video presentation more effective, we accompanied by relevant slides and short videos. The feedback on the group project was positive at last.

This experience is unique on account of it is the first group project I have participated in after I went to college. Compared with independent after-class assignments, the group project is a more practical interaction that links classroom effort, agreement, and interpersonal relationships(Caballero-Garcia, Villaerde, Avidad, & Cenjor, 2014). It examined and exercised my learning ability, and expanded my comprehensive ability to a certain extent as well. Therefore, this experience had a positive impact on me.
